CBC ComedyCoup is in full swing! The initial advancement phase has been completed and the contestants have been winnowed down to the top 110 comedy projects in Canada. After the most recent cuts, On Screen Manitoba is proud to see that the three remaining projects from Manitoba are from OSM members.
Orlando Braun’s series How to Do Everything Gooder is a “wildly experimental new genre of comedic sitcom. Half mockumentary, half improv, half scripted comedy, 150% funny.”
Eric Warwaruk’s and Rachel Sommer’s Hindsight is a biographical ½ -hour scripted comedy sitcom about the world’s funniest optometrist, and her “journey to reach the dizzying heights of the Winnipeg Fringe Festival.”
And Justin Lamoureux’s Shirts is a show about two brothers, “in it for the fame and the money” of the fashion industry – and all their misadventures along the way.
CBC ComedyCoup is a pilot accelerator program designed to give emerging comedy creators a chance to see their original concepts developed and produced into a primetime comedy series.
Of the 285 initial projects vying for a development deal, seven were from Manitoba. After the initial advancement phase narrowed the contestants down to 110, our three members were the last Manitobans standing. Voting for the top 55 starts October 23 – so sign up today and show your support for OSM’s talented and creative teams.
