Nicole Matiation, Executive Director
Nicole was appointed as On Screen Manitoba’s Executive Director in 2010 and has worked in the arts and cultural sector all of her career, holding management positions in communications, development, programming, government relations and public engagement for over 20 years.
First in Montreal in the dance community and on contract for the National Film Board of Canada, upon returning to Winnipeg in 1996, she founded and led Freeze Frame Media Arts Centre for Young People with its annual international film festival for 12 years. More recently, Nicole was the Cultural Industries Consultant for Sport, Culture & Heritage Manitoba and in 2010 was the Project Manager for Manitoba Culture Days.
Nicole has an MA in Media Studies from Concordia University and as an active volunteer, Nicole sits on a variety of local and national committees and juries. She is a founding member and treasurer of Manitobans for the Arts, a board member of the Franco-Manitoban Cultural Centre, co-chair of the Board of Culture Days /Nuit Blanche Winnipeg and co-founder and Chair of the Board of Freeze Frame Media Arts Centre for Young People.
Cali Ramsey, Operations Manager
Cali earned an M.A. in Comparative Sociology from Florida International University and has gained 10 years of experience in various roles of increasing responsibility in the MB arts and cultural sector. Her education and work experience has afforded opportunity to develop economic assessment/survey/tracking indicators experience. Most recently in her role as Operations Manager she has taken a leadership role in project management, organizational finances and supporting the ED with HR management and Board governance duties.
Maryam Decter, Membership and Industry Liaison Manager
Maryam has Bachelor degrees in Arts, Theatre, Education, Fine Arts and a background in Conflict Resolution and Creative Writing. She has worked on more than 50 productions over 20 years as a Production Designer, Production Manager and Gemini Award winning Set Decorator. She appreciates both the cooperative nature of filmmaking and the skill and hard work that go into it. Maryam brings practical production experience to the OSM Team as well as a deep, clear understanding of the Manitoba media production industry and a commitment to mentorship, business development and fairness.
William Klippenstein, Bilingual Communications Coordinator
As a recent graduate of the joint communications program between Creative Communications at Red River College and Rhetoric and Communications at The University of Winnipeg, William is just starting his career in the media production industry. He wrote and directed several short films during his time at school and has continued working on projects since he graduated in the spring of 2020. Most recently, he directed and co-wrote a film for the 2020 Winnipeg Film Group 48 Hour Film Contest. He thoroughly developed his writing skills during his time at Red River College, and he brings his personal brand of enthusiasm to every project — whether it be in writing, video, or something entirely new.
