Broadcasting and Telecommunications Acts Review

September 28, 2018

The panel charged with reviewing and modernizing the Broadcasting and Telecommunications Acts launched its public consultation this week (media release). It is currently accepting written comments from stakeholders and interested parties by November 30, 2018. All submissions will be made available to the public. The panel is asking for feedback on four themes: reducing barriers to access by all Canadians to advanced telecommunications networks; supporting creation, production and discoverability of Canadian content; improving the rights of the digital consumer; and renewing the institutional framework for the communications sector. On Screen Manitoba will be making a written submission. Please contact Executive Director Nicole Matiation or Vice-Chair OSM Government Relations and Regulatory Affairs Leslea Mair if you wish to contribute. The panel will release a final report by January 31, 2020. See the Playback and Cartt articles for more information.
