This year saw 12 submissions from emerging Manitoba filmmakers. An independent pre-selection jury selected 5 projects to move on to the live pitch competition during the Gimli Film Festival on Saturday July 28 at 10 AM at the Gimli Theatre. See the full festival schedule here.
Josh Benoit – Melaleuca
Sage Daniels – Broken Glass

Ryan Steel – Louis ‘David’ Riel

The program will open with the premiere screening of the short film by the 2017 competition winners Miles Crossman and Nicola Baldwin, If It Ain’t Got.
Each finalist has three minutes to pitch their short film idea to a jury of industry professionals and a live audience followed by five minutes of questions from the jury. Once all of the pitches are complete, the jury will deliberate and select one filmmaker who will receive $10,000 in production funds through the RBC Emerging Artists Project, a mentorship with industry professionals from the National Screen Institute – Canada, a one-year membership with On Screen Manitoba, a $2,500 gift certificate courtesy of William F. White International and a premiere screening of their film at the 2019 Gimli Film Festival.
