FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SHORT WEB SERIES SUBMISSIONS ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED FOR THE ‘WOMEN ON SCREEN – WEB SERIES INCUBATOR’
August 20, 2015 (Toronto) Women On Screen, an organization committed to increasing the representation of women in the entertainment industry on all sides of the camera, is pleased to open the call for submissions to their annual script incubator. The goal of the program is to encourage female writers to create material that showcases women, to work on their craft in a professional environment, and to connect with female leaders in the entertainment industry.
Previously a development incubator for short films, Women On Screen is excited to explore the world of web series for the next installment of this program. The WOS Web Series Incubator is a six-week development incubator program for short web series, namely pilot scripts, featuring female-driven content. Eight scripts and writers/writing teams will be selected to participate in this development program, with mentorship provided from Canadian Film & Television Industry Professionals. Previous prestigious mentors include Jenn Engels (Writer, Seed, Less Than Kind), Amy Cameron (Executive in Charge of Production, Drama at CBC Television), Lori Fischburg (Producer, Summer Day, Centre Island) and Michelle Latimer (Actress, Blackstone, Paradise Falls, Writer/Director, The Underground). Mentors for 2015 will be announced in September.
