Access Funds

The Access Funds for 2019-20 have been depleted. Please contact Maryam for information about when the Access Funds will open for the 2020-21 year.

Through a contribution from Manitoba Film and Music, On Screen Manitoba members can access funds that offset travel and registration costs to participate in festivals, markets and professional development.  Manitoba Film and Music’s support of all three funds effectively provide On Screen Manitoba members with cash assistance equal to 50% of the actual eligible costs up to the amount approved by the jury. On Screen Manitoba will provide payment for 100% of the actual eligible costs up to the amount approved by the jury, and the successful applicant must pay a Program Fee representing 50% of the total eligible costs up to the approved amount.

Please note these key changes to the guidelines for 2019-20:

  • Access Fund applications will be accepted quarterly until all funds are expired. You may apply for events that take place later in the year at any time. Funds will be committed until depleted.
  • On a pilot basis, three “market slate” opportunities are available to production companies that wish to apply for a series of Access to Market trips up to a maximum $9,000. A maximum of three (3) market slates will be awarded. The deadline to apply is May 30, 2019 and the application fee for the market slate is $125. A strong business case for multiple market trips will be required. This will include multiple projects at various stages and proven success in landing deals on past market trips. Production companies that receive slate funding will not be eligible to apply for additional Access to Market support in the course of the year. Should an exceptional screening opportunity arise they may apply one time to Access to Festivals assuming sufficient funding remains in the program.
  • All applications for each program now require clearly articulated business goals and outcomes that are expected to result from the activity funded.
  • Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  • Incomplete Final Reports will not be accepted in any program. Final Reports not filed within three (3) months of the event may be subject to a $100 late fee; those not filed with five (5) months of the event may be subject to a $200 late fee. If On Screen Manitoba has not received a complete final report within six (6) months of the event, On Screen Manitoba cannot guarantee that the awarded amount will be available.
  • The Access Funds caps are now $6,000 for individuals and $12,000 for production companies, which are not funded through a market slate. Note that contributions to individual writers, directors and producers cumulate toward the total production company cap.

The maximum contribution per program has been reduced to ensure more applicants may benefit from support:
