Business Affairs Support Consultation for Coproductions

On Screen Manitoba offers Manitoba production companies and Francophone production companies based in Western Canada a new program that provides access to Business Affairs support services for coproduction. The objective of the program is to perfect the business skills and knowledge of On Screen Manitoba producer members regarding coproductions with francophone territories, whether interprovincial or international, through expert support; and its mission extends to francophone production company members of APFC based in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.

Stéphanie Chappelle, CEO and consultant at IBACentral is offering to share her skills as Business Affairs consultant to support and guide producers starting a first or second coproduction (international or interprovincial) and aiming for a francophone market, as well as or in place of an anglophone market. Up to six projects will be selected to receive a maximum of 10 hours of support per project in French or English between now and March 31, 2019.

How to apply and applicant criteria:

  • Have a project in development or in coproduction with a francophone territory;
  • Be a production company member of On Screen Manitoba in good standing (or, for francophone producers based in British Columbia, Alberta or Saskatchewan, be a member in good standing of APFC) for at least six months before applying and for at least a year after the conclusion of any projects which receives support or funding through On Screen Manitoba programs;
  • Complete the application form; and,
  • Be approved by the program jury (the jury includes staff members of organizations which support media development and production)

Cost for participants: 35$ CAD per hour for each hour of support (reduced rate). The production company will be invoiced for the first two hours upfront and will then be invoiced every four hours until the end of the project.

Application Deadline: Wednesday, October 31. If all the consultation hours have not been distributed, a second window will open from November 15 to 30, 2018. The application fee is 20$.
