Ethan Billard Dooley is an upcoming member of Manitoba’s film industry, and an active member and contributor to the short film community in Winnipeg. Ethan has written, directed, produced and edited dozens of short films. His most recent work “August Long” was voted as one of the top films at the 2020 University of Winnipeg Film Festival, and is awaiting notice of acceptance into several festivals. The last film Ethan edited “The Flexed Arm Hang” is currently doing its rounds in festivals such as the Manchester International Film Festival, The Paris International Film Festival, The Indie Shorts Fest, and many more. Ethan will be graduating from the University of Winnipeg in the Spring of 2022, with BAs in Filmmaking as well as Modern Languages and Literatures. Beyond his university education, Ethan has taken countless workshops with Film Training Manitoba and The Winnipeg Film Group, such as the Advanced Camera Workshop offered by FTM in 2019. Ethan began working on union shows in 2019, spending time in several departments and becoming an established permittee with both the DGC and IATSE 856. Beyond filmmaking, Ethan is conversational in Spanish and speaks Japanese at an N4 level. He also is Bronze Cross Certified and can administer CPR, The Heimlich Maneuver and is trained in what to do in such emergency situations.
