Joanne Roberts is a Canadian actress best known for her role as Julia in the award-winning musical short film The Perfect Life (2019), which screened at TIFF Bell Lightbox as part of their festival The 48, A 6-Year Retrospective. In 2020, she won the prestigious Emerging Filmmaker Pitch Competition at the 2020 Gimli Film Festival to produce her short film, Anak. Not a stranger to playing to sold-out crowds, Joanne's theatre credits include Janelle in the bilingual co-production of Que faire d'Albert?/What To Do With Albert with Théâtre Cercle Molière and Prairie Theatre Exchange respectively, and Juliet in Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) with Theatre Projects Manitoba. When Joanne is not acting, she produces other artistic ventures with her company Joie de Survivre. Joie de Survivre produces work in the mediums of film, theatre, and writing. Joanne also coaches artists of all ages and experience at her studio, Roberts Music. Joanne resides in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In her spare time, she is a strong advocate for survivors of intimate partner violence, familial abuse and systemic racism. She speaks freely and often of her personal experiences in the industry and her personal life with the hopes of providing support to other survivors. Joanne is grateful to be a part of the Board of Directors with CARFAC Manitoba, as well as a BIPOC consultant with Sarasvàti Productions, where she can actively take a role to promote real change in the industry.
