Catch The Dream Bios with Adam Beach takes the viewer beyond token newspaper headlines and three-minute news pieces, offering a revealing glimpse into the lives of some rather remarkable Aboriginal people: the Dreamers. We’ll get to know them, both in their homes and in their communities, learning about their ambitions and goals, of the challenges faced and adversities overcome. Our subjects share an obvious connection — they are all of First Nations descent — but that’s not the only similarity between them. The journey to each destination follows its own path, but the Dreamers each pass the same waypoints along the way: Faith, desire, struggle and success. This series explores the collective experience, taking a closer look at how some people meet challenges that, sadly, many Aboriginal people never overcome. For those who do manage to persevere, however, the experience can be magical. Among cherished Aboriginal ceremonies and rites of passage is the tradition of gift giving, where the ceremonial host proves their wealth by giving it away. Catch The Dream will explore a central tenant of Aboriginal culture — the spirit of generosity — both historically and in modern times. This series will reveal how each of our subjects was helped along the way by the generosity of someone who believed in them. Many of our Dreamers, in turn, actively and generously give back to others, through mentorship and volunteerism, thus continuing the tradition and inspiring the next generation to chase their own dreams.
