Legal Considerations for the Media Production Industry is a series of lunch and learn sessions for emerging and mid-level producers intended to provide an understanding of basic legal considerations for productions from development through delivery. 

This session will focus on post-production concepts including distribution and sales agent agreements, errors & omissions insurance, fair dealing and delivery.

Light lunch is included.

About the instructors

Ian Harris – Entertainment Lawyer  

Ian’s practice focuses on legal transactions in the entertainment industry with an emphasis on film and TV production, video games, interactive digital media, privacy, and intellectual property acquisition, distribution and protection. Ian also works with Mark Edwards in the firm’s entertainment litigation practice.  

Ian is a trusted counselor whose clients value his careful drafting and unflagging attention to detail. Ian has developed particular expertise drafting and negotiating employment and independent contractor agreements in the film and TV industry, as well as production services agreements and co-production agreements.  

Ian routinely volunteers as a duty counsel with Artists’ Legal Advice Services and is a frequent contributor to the firm’s legal blog. Prior to joining Edwards Creative Law, Ian articled at a personal injury firm and worked as a personal trainer.  

Michael Duboff, Entertainment Lawyer 

Michael Duboff is a seasoned Canadian entertainment attorney, deeply embedded in the music, film, and TV spheres.  

Hailing from Winnipeg, his expertise extends throughout Manitoba and Ontario, bridging artistic and corporate worlds.
