Creating a Culture of Consent on Set

  • Black Lodge 304-100 Arthur Street Winnipeg, MB, R3B 1H7 Canada (map)

On Screen Manitoba, in partnership with the Winnipeg Film Group and Creative Manitoba, is inviting you to Creating a Culture of Consent on Set, facilitated by Lauren Barbara Checkley (SERC) and Richard McCrae (MFL Occupational Health Centre). This free session will take place on November 1 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Black Lodge (304-100 Arthur St).

Sexual harassment in any workplace — including during production — is a harmful pattern of behaviour that negatively impacts individuals and all those with whom they work.

The MFL Occupational Health Centre (OHC), Sexuality Education Resource Centre (SERC) and Klinic Community Health have developed a community health response to workplace sexual harassment. As part of this project, the Creating a Culture of Consent on Set session is designed to shine a spotlight on effective bystander interventions — one of the pillars in creating and nurturing a culture of consent in any work environment. Visit consentatwork.ca to learn more about the project and its services.

At this session, you will learn a variety of techniques for successful interventions, how to increase accountability and how to encourage positive behaviour in a safe and supportive way.

The session is free, but you must register to attend as space is limited. If you have any questions, please contact Maryam Decter, Program Manager, at maryam@onscreenmanitoba.com.
