Event Summary 

This two-day, in-person workshop equips producers, supervisors, production managers, department heads, and other key decision-makers in the media production industry with tools to lead more inclusive productions.

Through interactive training, participants will learn to foster cultural and psychological safety, address systemic barriers, and apply inclusive leadership practices to hiring, conflict resolution, and workplace dynamics.

Participants will receive a certificate of completion. 

Key Learning Outcomes 

  • Increased awareness of cultural and psychological safety practices. 

  • Identification of systemic barriers in the production process. 

  • Tools and strategies to minimize bias in decision-making and hiring. 

  • Training in cultural sensitivity, microaggressions, and stereotyping. 

  • Practical methods for fostering allyship and intervening as a bystander. 

  • Guidelines for effective incident reporting and response.

About the instructor 

Natasha Tony is the CEO of Vancouver-based Elevate Inclusion Strategies and a labour relations specialist, consultant, leadership coach, and speaker. She has been recognized as a Black leader by the Vancouver Economic Commission for her impactful contributions to workplace inclusion. 

With a commitment to applying an intersectional, human rights, and reconciliation lens to her work, Natasha has deep experience in mediation, negotiation, and conflict resolution. Her work with corporations, businesses, all levels of government, and social justice organizations has helped leaders move toward sustainable inclusion by providing them with the strategic tools to overcome systemic barriers. 

Before founding Elevate Inclusion Strategies, Natasha spent 15 years as an Extras Casting Director in the British Columbia film industry. She later transitioned into labour relations, gaining a reputation for her ability to navigate complex workplace issues in collaboration with unions and Hollywood studios. Natasha's renowned Inclusive Leadership and Inclusive Workplace Training Program has been delivered across Canada and the U.S., and she was honored by Women in Film + TV Vancouver with a Spotlight Award for her contributions to diversity in the film industry. 

In addition to her work in training, Natasha played a key role in developing the Creative Equity Roadmap in collaboration with Creative Pathways (Creative BC), aimed at increasing diversity in British Columbia's motion picture workforce. 

Natasha also gives back to her community as a board member of Black Women Film! Canada, a Bencher with the Law Society of British Columbia, and a board member of Emily Carr University of Art + Design.

Who should attend this workshop? 

This program is designed for producers, production companies, and key personnel in leadership roles within the film and television industries. You should either be in a decision-making position or on the path to leadership. 

Will I receive a certificate? 

Yes, you will receive a certificate of completion if you complete the program. 

Will this be recorded or available online? 

No, this program will not be recorded and will not be available online. You must attend in person to benefit from the training.

Can I attend just one day of the training? 

No, you must commit to both days of the training. 

Will there be a follow-up after the training? 

Yes, you will receive a feedback survey after the program and a follow-up six months later to assess the long-term impact of the training.
